The Platte Valley Humane Society was started in the 1970's and was incorporated in 1979. Their mission has always been to promote education for the humane treatment, care, and adoption of animals; and to obtain joint efforts from all to aid and protect animals. Up until 2007 all work with animals, including their housing and daily care had been done by volunteers out of their own homes. In 2005 PVHS bought a local veterinary clinic that had closed and began the process towards opening the Erna Badstieber Paws and Claws Adoption Center. After two years of hard work doing renovations, we finally reached our goal of having an actual building. The Adoption Center opened January 2nd, 2008. We currently continue the work of housing, re-uniting, and re-homing animals as the PVHS.
Our Mission Statement:
To promote education for the humane treatment, care and adoption of animals, and to obtain joint efforts from all to aid and protect animals
New...New... New!!!

We are very excited about two new projects we have started to help animals find their owners.
1. We will be listing found animals in the classified ads of the Columbus Telegram each week.
2. Listen to KLIR each weekday at 10:40 for announcements of found animals. This daily program will be called "There's No Place Like Home".
You can also check out the Lost and Found page here on our website. There are pictures (when available) of both the animals that are found and now at Paws and Claws and listings of animals that have been lost.
If you recognize any of these animals or know who they may belong to, please contact us so we can get them reunited with their families.
Thanks!
